If you’re online looking for things to do in Los Angeles, you’re going to come across some mundane stuff. Go see the Hollywood sign, eat in Chinatown, and even sit down in the studio audience of your favorite show. If we’re being completely honest, though, no one really cares much about that stuff anymore. If you want to have real stories to tell about your trip — or for locals, the unknown attractions of your home city — these are the experiences you need to aim for.<\/p>\n

Check Out the Sunken City — If You Can<\/h2>\n

If you’re one of those people who seek out off-the-radar beaches in LA<\/a>, it doesn’t get more “less traveled” than The Sunken City of San Pedro. It was once a gorgeous place full of cliffside homes, but in 1929, a landslide swallowed much of the area into the ocean.<\/p>\n

You can now see the ruins of what once was, but there’s a good chance you’ll run into “No Trespassing” signs as well. The area isn’t technically open to the public — even though countless people visit it every year — but citizens are constantly striving to change this.<\/p>\n

Moral of the story: Check the legal status before you go. If you choose to visit before it’s legal, don’t come back blaming us. We warned you.<\/p>\n

Go Get a Tattoo<\/h2>\n

While it’s true that you can get a tattoo anywhere, Los Angeles artists are something special. Phillip Spearman<\/a>, for instance, runs a private studio where artwork is done by appointment only. He’s also known as the greatest tattoo artist in the area.<\/p>\n

Inked Magazine actually ranked LA the sixth most tattooed city in America. You might consider laser tattoo removal<\/a> to lighten that drunken mistake and make it easier to cover, but either way, you’ll find artists who can do magic.<\/p>\n

Visit the Time Travel Mart<\/h2>\n

It’s impossible to travel back in time. That’s why many men are either bald or opt for robotic hair restoration<\/a>. When visiting LA, though, you’ll come about as close as you can get. The Echo Park Time Travel Mart sells everything from dinosaur eggs to evil robot technology from the future.<\/p>\n

Here’s hoping we don’t have to inform you that these aren’t actual <\/i>dinosaur eggs and robots. Even so, this little shop is a gift from the time travel gods.<\/p>\n

Peruse the Museum of Death<\/h2>\n

Have you ever been to a museum with rooms dedicated to serial killers and autopsies? If not, what have you been doing with your life? Either way, you can make up for this lapse in judgment by visiting the Museum of Death\"\"<\/p>\n

During any given day, you’ll likely see visitors sporting gear from Adrienne Rozzi’s Poison Apple Printshop<\/a>, but fortunately for you, there’s no formal dress code. Once you visit the museum, you’ll understand the choice of attire. If you can’t find the building right away, just look for the 8-foot tall skull.<\/p>\n

Watch the “Rocky Horror Picture Show”<\/h2>\n

Of all the things to do in Los Angeles, taking in a midnight showing of the “Rocky Horror Picture Show” is far too often overlooked by tourists. Then again, that’s kind of what you’re looking for — right? You can catch the show, along with superfans dressed in costumes, every Saturday night. If you tell them we sent you, please at least sing along to the songs so they don’t think we’re all prudes.<\/p>\n

Rock Out in the City of Angels<\/h2>\n

There are a million things to do in Los Angeles. In fact, there’s probably far more, but if you have time to visit everything, it’s probably time to get a job.
