Guys don\u2019t get that luxury. \u00a0I can buy things that are wash and wear. Button-downs, collared shirts, slacks with pleats \u2013 I get it, you have to work a little harder to be wrinkle-free.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-553\" src=\"https:\/\/bsgsite.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/michael-frattaroli-221247-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1180\" height=\"786\" \/> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now that the holidays are here (and party season is in full-swing), I thought it fitting to find out the best tips and tricks of the trade, when it comes to tackling the art of ironing. \u00a0Ryan Clark, Rowenta ambassador and creator of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.proofpoint.com\/v2\/url?u=http-3A__highfashionliving.com_&amp;d=DwMFaQ&amp;c=euGZstcaTDllvimEN8b7jXrwqOf-v5A_CdpgnVfiiMM&amp;r=zMmfkHaEopkbtdxVNyaQHBbdA1AsQEp39ouqMD-LjnE&amp;m=Uc88jUgft4ovbYOOmDLSEbZgiSh0lK0MHdodxEEGwxc&amp;s=s0yBOM9K5GHfvYRx_n5k-c-wNRrTANSJ_vP3BcOt9vs&amp;e=\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">High Fashion Living<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, breaks it down for us. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tools needed: an iron, an ironing board with a cover, and some starch spray (if you prefer!)<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-555\" src=\"https:\/\/bsgsite.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/filip-mroz-220805-214x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"578\" height=\"809\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Plan Ahead:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Start with articles or garments needing the lowest temperature and progress to those requiring the highest. \u00a0If you\u2019re unsure, check the garment\u2019s label. If there are no instructions, check the fabric and go by the guide on your iron (for example, cotton or linen typically uses the highest heat setting, but skip the steam).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Location, Location, Location:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> You can get hot and steamy in the bedroom in more ways than one. \u201cDo your ironing in the bedroom. You&#8217;ll be able to use the bed to sort your laundry, and you&#8217;ll have hangers close at hand in the closet. This will help prevent wrinkles from forming on your newly ironed clothing,\u201d advised Clark.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><b>Cuffs &amp; Collars:<\/b><span> To prevent collars, cuffs, and hems from puckering, \u201ciron them on the \u201cwrong side\u201d first. Then follow up by ironing them on the opposite side,\u201d said Clark. \u201cThis ensures you have wrinkle-free, and straight collars and cuffs each time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span><b>The Dark Side:<\/b><span> To keep from giving your darker colored clothing a sheen, turn the clothing inside out and iron the wrong side.\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Keep It Straight:<\/b><span> Iron using straight, back and forth strokes (avoid circular movements). This can stretch out your fabrics and will shorten the life of your clothes, said Clark.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Stiffen Up<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: If you like a \u201cstiffer fabric\u201d and a crisper appearance (especially when it comes to collared shirts) don\u2019t forget the spray starch. You simply spray each section just before you iron it, and don\u2019t forget to skip the steam. <\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So I\u2019ll admit it. I don\u2019t iron.
