From here, our Doctors will review your information and determine if you are a candidate for treatment via Telemedicine. Only once physician approved is your order charged. Your treatment will be sent out in discreet packaging every 3 months.
Yes, this is highly encouraged for the treatment of male pattern hair loss. The generic propecia (finasteride) pills will protect all hairs on your head, while the topical is great at increasing growth to the most susceptible areas to thinning. Think of the topical as reinforcement to help the pills with the areas of most concern. Both can be used independently, however together they help you achieve maximum result.
Dispense two complete pumps of the gel to the palm of your hand. Use your index finger from the other hand to dab product and apply a very thin layer to the areas that are actively thinning. Do not wash for at least 4 hours to allow medications to take effect.
Both male and female pattern hair loss generally stem from genetics (hereditary), and are hormonally mediated. They are called “pattern” balndess because they tend to follow particular patterns (hairline recession and crown thinning in men, and central part line and temple thinning in women).
Minoxidil works to keep hairs in their growth phase and thereby reduce the shedding process. Minoxidil is available over the counter in a 5% preparation, and in higher percentages in prescriptions. Minoxidil, when used topically, can have rare side effects including lowering blood pressure. Ask your doctor if minoxidil is safe for you if you have any underlying cardiovascular history.
Finasteride and Dutasteride work by partially blocking the enzyme (5-alpha-reductase) responsible for converting testosterone into the active metabolite DHT. Dutasteride lowers DHT a bit more than Finasteride by blocking two versions of the enzyme instead of just one. DHT is the main culprit responsible for male pattern thinning. While the vast majority of patients who take these medications do not have any side effects, if you do experience any we recommend you discontinue treatment. If there are no initial side effects, it would be unusual to develop them down the road. The risk of side effects with topical Finasteride and Dutasteride is less than it is in pill form. The reported rate of sexual side effects was 3.8% in the Finasteride pill group, vs 2.1% in the placebo group, representing a 1.7% difference. The so-called, “Post-Finasteride Syndrome” is not recognized in the medical community.
